About Brookgreen
Founded in 1931 by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, Brookgreen Gardens has long been a cultural centre for the area, with many events such as outdoor theatre and art exhibits.
The formal gardens are enhanced by a wide collection of American Sculpture including many pieces by co-founder Anna Hyatt Huntington. Additional attractions include various wildlife exhibits including wetland bird and raptor aviaries, alligators, otters and red foxes.
There is also a butterfly House, a deer park and much more.
Brookgreen History
Brookgreen also has a rich history, dating back to the days of rice plantations in colonial times. Brookgreen Gardens provides a number of guided boat and land tours providing much historical context.
