A fusion of native flora and fauna with American Sculpture, Brookgreen Gardens is the top Pawleys Island attraction.
It has won numerous State and National awards including Top 10 Public Gardens in the US by Coastal Living Magazine as well as Top Five Favorite Gardens by readers of Southern LivingMagazine.
With so much to see and do the modestly priced 7 day ticket is a steal.
Founded in 1931 by Archer and Anna Hyatt Huntington, Brookgreen Gardens has long been a cultural centre for the area, with many events such as outdoor theatre and art exhibits.
The formal gardens are enhanced by a wide collection of American Sculpture including many pieces by co-founder Anna Hyatt Huntington. Additional attractions include various wildlife exhibits including wetland bird and raptor aviaries, alligators, otters and red foxes.
There is also a butterfly House, a deer park and much more.
Brookgreen also has a rich history, dating back to the days of rice plantations in colonial times. Brookgreen Gardens provides a number of guided boat and land tours providing much historical context.
